该剧讲述了大都会警察局凶杀案指挥部的副警长萨拉·柯林斯与自己的前女友警官莉齐·阿达玛合作侦破案件的故事。他们的第一个电话是针对家庭暴力投诉，一个男人被指控殴打女友，并恐吓他们的小女儿。莉齐说服女友说出对她所做的事情的真相，使其能够逮捕他。然而，案件进入法庭，莉齐发现自己在证人席上被盘问，使整个案件处于危险之中。
